ABOUT

Hi, I'm Megan, and this blog is a place to share Isla's journey with LCH to possibly help other families going through something similar. LCH is so rare that it’s often misunderstood—it behaves like both cancer and an autoimmune disease, making it difficult to diagnose. How our doctors explained it to us is that LCH is considered a malignancy, but not necessarily cancer. The only difference between cancer and LCH is cancer starts in one place, and then it spreads. LCH just comes out of nowhere and it shows up everywhere. It started with what seemed like small symptoms that eventually led to months of unanswered questions, doctor’s visits, and tests.

I still think I am in shock. You never think anything like this could happen, let alone to your one year old daughter, but then it does. My husband mentioned that writing her story might help myself process the emotions I have been feeling the past few months.

This space will be filled with our experiences, emotions, and our incredible Isla.
