We almost had to postpone this round. Isla has had a cold/runny nose for the past two weeks. She was eating well though, so we decided to do the round this week. Her appointment was at Primary Children's. When we walked into oncology, the nurses were super excited to see Isla. One of them said, "I got so excited when I saw Isla's name on the list for today!" It made me happy.
They told us that the blood work from the PET scan was good, but they did want to check her levels again. They said we could do a finger prick, which was a relief. She barely even noticed.
Isla feels so comfortable with the nurses there. She tries constantly to leave the room so she can go chat with them about their shoes or to show them hers. She was walking all over the place. Isla wanted every toy they had to offer.

Isla was a lot more active today, but very clingy. She didn't want me out of her sight and sat with me for most of the day. She ate pretty good when she was on the nausea medication, which was a relief. The home health nurse came at 10:30am and brought toys for the kids. It was incredibly sweet. She was the same home health nurse that came the 2nd round.
After her shot, she ate lunch and then I put her down for her nap. She woke up about 2 hours later very sad. I think the nausea was pretty bad and she hates taking her medicine. I have to hold her down to give it to her every six hours. She was not happy with me, but she didn't want me to put her down. I was holding her in my lap while I was working and realized that she started to feel very warm. She started rubbing her head and was moving like she couldn't get comfortable.
I took her temperature. I kept whispering, "Please don't be over 101, please don't be over 101..." The thermometer beeped. [ 101.2 F ]
They tell us every time we go in for an appointment that if she has a fever of 101 or more at any point while she's doing chemo, to go to the ER. I called the oncology department at Primary Children's and talked to a nurse. She told me to give her Tylenol. I gave her Tylenol and sat with her. I then received a call from Primary Children's. "I just talked to your Pediatric Oncologist and she says to take Isla to the ER."
I went with Isla to the ER. I don't know how much detail I want to put into it. I was feeling so much anxiety from the last time we went to the ER. They took her blood right away. They said it would take 1-2 hours to get her results back.
Long story short, her bloodwork looked good and she has a cold. Thank goodness it wasn't anything more serious!
Wednesday - Friday
The rest of the week was pretty smooth sailing. She didn't throw up again. She got her next three shots, no issues. Didn't cry about the shots once. She didn't sleep great, but I feel like that is still pretty good considering all that she is going through.
This blog post is late because our family recently moved. It's been an insane few weeks, but Isla is doing great. Thank you for following her journey!
Love, Megan
