QUICK UPDATE

Neutrophils are a crucial type of white blood cell (leukocyte). They serve as your body’s first line of defense against infections.

October 17, 2025 - Friday

Isla had her blood drawn from her port at our home. With this chemo, she has to have her blood levels checked before. She was scheduled to start chemo on October 20. We got a call from our nurse coordinator later that day. She asked how Isla was doing and then asked if I had a chance to look at Isla's labs. I told her that I hadn't yet. She said that Isla's Neutrophil level was at 729. It has to be at 750 to do chemo.

The nurse coordinator told me that we would have to wait a week and draw her blood this next Friday (Oct 24) to check her levels. Which means delaying her chemo for one week. I had mixed emotions. I was relieved that she doesn't have to do chemo, but sad because I just want to get this over with.

If her levels are good on Friday, I will just plan on doing the next blog post about her treatment. If her levels are not good, I will do another update post.

Thank you for all the love and support! We are surrounded by the best people.

Love, Megan
